Found Oracles

The story card that you are drawn to is the one that has the story waiting to find you right here, right now. Trust yourself and choose your oracle, for it has already chosen you.

Found Oracles is an interactive storytelling experience that originated online, featuring a constellation of original story cards depicting surreal and unexpected oracle characters - animated and reimagined objects from the everyday world.

The narrative design of this experience is architected through the mechanism of the audience member’s personal agency, preference, and choice. The reader is drawn to something in the story card that stands out to them - a symbol, a title, a memory, a favorite, an affinity, or another personal relationship to the card concept and its characters. Because they are the type of person who is drawn to that card in that moment, they are the type of person in that moment who the card’s oracular story is meant to find.

While the project plays with the format and tradition of oracle cards, these cards are not oracle cards. They are story selectors. When a reader selects their story card, they activate its story via a click or tangible envelope, and the oracle speaks.

The stories the oracles tell are short (flash prose at 400-950 words each) but immersive, placing the participant as the main character and contextualizing their visit to the oracle immediately with humor and surreal irreverence before diving into a narrative of collective yet deeply individual human experience. The oracles take the participant and their journey seriously, but not much else.

These stories serve to celebrate the ways their recipients move in the world, help people to see themselves more clearly, and remind us of our deep connections to ourselves, to the world around us, and to all that is.

Every part of the Found Oracles project is concepted, collaged, designed, written, architected, and developed by Bailey Lewis - including the site and its interactions. The story library is open for free to the public and ever-expanding. New oracles and their stories arrive there frequently.

As of September 2026, the site attracts traffic of an average of 10,000 unique visitors per month, with an average of 20,000 page views each month, and a reading dwell time of a little over 3 minutes per story.

The Found Oracles project is also shared consistently by Bailey on her social media channels and enjoys more than 40,000 followers engaging with the stories across platforms.
